Our Rome Italian Decor sign which has the initials SPQR stands for The Senate and The People of Rome. SPQR was used in ancient Rome as their civic motto to describe the government of Rome. Our sign is recreated from an original sculpture by artist Al Pisano, we hand cast and then hand paint and stain each sign to capture all the detail and depth of the original art. SPQR is still the motto of the city of Rome and can be seen throughout Rome on manhole covers, fountains and many other public places. This sign measures 10 inches x 10 inches and we include a recessed hanger in the back. We make this sign here in the USA.
